Hello and welcome! Apart from my family, my passions are writing and music. I don’t play an instrument but my younger son plays a mean guitar. Over time our children have become fans of Hendrix, Bowie, Led Zeppelin, The Rolling Stones, The Who, Steely Dan, Eagles… It’s quite a long list and one we’ve yet to share with our grandchildren! As for writing, the power of a motley collection of words artfully strung together never ceases to amaze me.
I grew up on a council estate bordered by farm land, woodland, and common land: a children’s adventure playground. Passing the Eleven Plus eventually led to a degree and a career in education. I taught at the same school as a mainstream teacher, a special class teacher, a support teacher and latterly, as the Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator. It was a privilege to have been a part of the school and the local community; to have been involved with up to three generations of some families. I retired over a decade ago but the teacher and storyteller in me persists with my four grandchildren now my target audience. They are young enough to enjoy my stories and games and nonsense rhymes. I relish their company and laughter, their tantrums and tears… my brief moments in the sunshine of their love. I also write for grown-ups. |
